Responding to the recently published NFU Mutual Rural Crime Report 2019, Sarah-Jane Laing, Executive Director at Scottish Land & Estates, said: “Rural crime continues to have a real impact throughout Scotland but there has been tangible progress made in improving prevention and detection measures.

“New technology is already playing a crucial role in addressing incidents of theft and vandalism, and Police Scotland and rural stakeholders are continuing to work together to highlight the best practice available for rural businesses looking to protect themselves in future.  It is important that rural businesses and communities are not viewed as an easy target by criminals and we continue to urge anyone who encounters suspicious activity to report this quickly so that it can be acted upon.”
