Scottish Government 2021 Covid-19 timetable announced

General News

Commenting on the First Minister’s Covid timetable published today (16 March 2021), Stephen Young, Head of Policy at Scottish Land & Estates said:

“We welcome the additional clarity provided by the First Minister’s statement on reopening the economy and society. These indicative dates offer hope for many of our members who employ people across tourism, hospitality and retail in rural Scotland – some of the hardest-hit sectors.

“However we are concerned at the limits imposed on self-catering accommodation which have worked hard to be Covid-compliant. Even in Level 0 the roadmap indicates that they would be limited to accommodating groups of eight from a maximum of three households. This seems inexplicable given the importance of the sector and the looser regulations placed on businesses across the economy at this level and we urge the government to rethink.

“We are grateful for the grants and support the Government has provided throughout this trying time and now look forward to seeing detailed guidance.”
