PLMA to become voting member of Pentland Hills Regional Park Joint Committee

General News

We are delighted to hear that Pentlands Land Managers Association (PLMA), an SLE member, is to become a voting member of Pentland Hills Regional Park Joint Committee.

PLMA was officially formed in November 2020 and its founding members represent over 75% of the Regional Park land area.

Having a seat at the table will now enable PLMA to have a stronger voice for its members in order to help tackle longstanding Park issues including a lack of funding for the Pentland Hills Regional Park Ranger Service and extensive Park infrastructure.

The move will also provide meaningful representation for land managers on the running of the Park as historically they were only consulted in word only despite the majority of land being privately owned and managed.

Another PLMA priority will be seeking to find an effective balance regarding the Outdoor Access Code between responsible public access and the protection of farming, livestock welfare and conservation from its overwhelming impact.
