Employment support and training can aid rural economyPress Release
Additional government funding for employment support and training has been welcomed today by Scottish Land & Estates.
Sarah-Jane Laing, chief executive of SLE, said: “The Scottish Government’s announcement of an additional £100m to be made available this year for targeted employment support and training is good news for those in and out of work as well as business owners. We look forward to learning more about the detail of this package in the near future.
“In recent days we have seen significant redundancy news at some of the UK’s largest companies and this is likely to worsen as time moves on.
“However, it is important to note that many jobs will be under threat in rural areas too which often gain less attention. A handful of redundancies can have a devastating impact in small rural communities and in many cases it is even more vital that these areas are offered access to support and training.
“We will continue to work with the Scottish Government on this as the recovery moves forward and we aim to build resilience within our rural economy.”
