Harvest Moon Holidays – celebrating 10 years as East Lothian’s premier glamping destination

Nestled between the sand dunes and woodlands behind beautiful Tyninghame beach, East Lothian’s premier glamping destination, Harvest Moon, has recently been voted as one of the “Top 10 most incredible treehouses to visit in the UK” by Country Living Magazine.

Occupying arguably the best coastal location in the county, it offers unique glamping stays in seven custom-made treehouses and seven spacious safari tents as well as weddings for couples who are looking for a special celebration that they won’t find elsewhere.

Alex Mitchell has been running Harvest Moon for over ten years, and talks of the huge rise in the popularity of his tourist hotspot during that time:

“People have always loved the idea of getting away from it all and camping out under the stars in the great outdoors, but now they’re also looking for the creature comforts of a warm stove and a hot shower! All our treehouses and safari tents are equipped with wood-burning stoves and en-suite bathrooms, offering plenty of space and breath-taking views of the sea and countryside.

"Guests can really get back to nature and enjoy precious family time with beach walks, rock pooling, sand dune sledging, sea swimming, making friends around the communal campfire and cooking fresh local produce on our BBQs. Or if they are staying for a bit longer, they love exploring the abundance of great attractions in the local area."

There is an honesty farm shop, BBQ and campfire facilities, as well as a 'Kids Corner' with chickens and fresh eggs, alpacas, bunnies, lambs and pygmy goats.

Harvest Moon is also very proud to be working with the Jasper King Trust to offer respite stays to families who have been affected by cancer.

The business employs 5 full time staff members, with additional staff over the peak summer period, predominantly from the local East Lothian community. It has an 80-90% occupancy rate during the busier summer months, attracting families from all over the UK, boosting the local economy and underpinning East Lothian’s ever-growing reputation as a Number 1 tourist destination north of the border.

Get married at Harvest Moon

With two beautiful wedding settings to choose from - on the beach or amongst the pine trees in the woodland – Harvest Moon has also become a sought-after wedding venue for couples looking to create their own special occasion. Over the course of a year, it plays host to approximately 10-15 weddings from April through until November.

It has an on-site marquee for post-ceremony celebrations, as well as stunning honeymoon suites in both the treehouse and safari tent sites, and the Harvest Moon cottage, so that couples can enjoy a weekend-long gathering with family and friends in their own private surroundings.

It’s been an incredibly rewarding and prosperous first decade for Harvest Moon and should continue to be for several more decades to come.
