Discover Scottish Gardens is a not-for-profit organisation run by a team of dedicated garden owners with the sole objective of promoting Scotlands amazing array of rural parks and gardens that are open to the public. With only 2 part time staff and the volunteer board members DSG punches far above its weight with regards reach and influence. This network of over 400 garden related businesses enjoys a range of benefits, such as increased profile, participation in four national festivals celebrating Scottish seasonal gardens, joint funding opportunities and a collective voice representing Scottish garden tourism at a national level.
DSG has three unique features. Firstly, our constantly improving website offers public users to search for gardens, garden centres, accommodation or eateries either by type, location or by name then providing the guest lots of useful information about the venue including opening times, facilities and offers. All this information is updated constantly by the members themselves using their own login to a member’s area. Secondly, every year, DSG designs, prints and distributes 100,000 fold-out paper maps. Whilst hard copy maps are often seen as old fashioned the DSG map has become one of our most popular and successful features. The maps are distributed through a network of hotels and the member gardens themselves offering visitors the opportunity to plan their next visit whilst discovering new venues unknown to them before. Lastly, we have created a series of Festivals celebrating the best of each season. These include the Snow Drop, Tree, Summer and Spring Festivals which encourage visitors to visit gardens, sometimes out with the peak season and enjoy some spectacular displays often missed. This increases out of season footfall and again increases the profile of many of our members venues.
