Wildlife Estates Scotland, in partnership with Buglife and Easter Bavelaw Farm invite members and their employees to join us for a workshop to learn how to baseline invertebrate life.

As with carbon, habitat health and other natural capital markers, there is a growing movement to baseline biodiversity so that land managers can quantify and demonstrate improvement following the implementation of conservation activities. A crucial element of any ecosystem is its pollinator diversity and populations and this workshop is particularly relevant to land managers who are, or will be responsible for monitoring changes. Attendees will learn about pollinators and how to track pollinator abundance and diversity across the landscape. They will get to grips will identification, survey and recording techniques using scientifically recognised methodology thereby enabling them to record a baseline and compare changes across habitats. It’s a good opportunity for some wildlife training which gains credit within the WES application process and will also stand employees in good stead with regard to their skillset. This workshop is based on technology which is hosted on smartphones.

This event is free of charge to WES and SLE Members, but booking is essential through the SLE website.
