In 2020 The Flow Country took the first step towards becoming the world’s first peatland heritage site by passing stage one of the nomination process. The next step is to submit a full nomination to UNESCO in late 2022, with a decision expected by mid-2024.

As part of this process consultation with the community and interested groups is now being undertaken. We would like to invite interested members to attend a virtual Round Table event on 11 February where we will hear from Dr Steven Andrews, Flow Country World Heritage Project Coordinator and David Cowie, Principal Planner (Development Plans) – both from the Highland Council.

This event will provide members with an overview of the project, with a focus on sharing the draft boundary and the rationale behind it. It will also allow members to provide feedback and ask any questions.

Format: 30 minute presentation from Dr Steven Andrews, Flow Country World Heritage Project Coordinator followed by discussion and Q&A.

If you have any questions regarding the event or need assistance with your online booking, please contact Fiona.VanAardt@scottishlandandestates.co.uk or call Fiona on 07483 054291.
