We are holding an informal members round table event on Thursday 24 June from 10:00-11:00am chaired by Stephen Young, our Head of Policy. Joining the roundtable will be David Bavin, Senior Carnivore Project Officer at Vincent Wildlife Trust.

At the start of the year an extensive study to assess people’s views about the possible reintroduction of Eurasian lynx to the Scottish Highlands was launched by Scotland: The Big Picture and Trees for Life.  The year-long consultation looks to assess public and stakeholder attitudes around the idea of lynx reintroduction, including in rural communities.

This work is being carried out by scientists from Vincent Wildlife Trust (VWT) who hope to identify public belief and perceptions around the concept of reintroducing lynx to Scotland and what barriers or concerns exist, as well as how they might be addressed.

The event offers members an opportunity to ask questions and express their views on the proposed reintroduction of the Eurasian lynx. We shall also be using the event as an opportunity to canvass views which will be used to help inform the organisations response to the consultation. To be clear SLE is not endorsing the above proposal, we are simply facilitating the conversation on this and allowing for member input.

Please note places are limited and will be reserved on a first come first service basis. If you would like to attend the event please book your place no later than Monday 14 June.

This will be a virtual event and guidance notes and an invite will be emailed after the cut off date in June.
