Policy & Lobbying

Scottish Land & Estates benefits from advice on policy matters from a specialist Taxation subgroup (part of the wider Legal and Taxation Committee). The members of this subgroup have considerable experience in dealing with all aspects of taxation which are of relevance to rural businesses and landowners. As such, the organisation is in a strong position to lobby on fiscal issues and this includes the submission of detailed Pre Budget Representations to HM Government.

The current members of the Taxation subgroup are:

  • Jamie Younger CA, (Saffery Champness, CA, Edinburgh)
  • James Robertson CA,
  • Alan Barr (Brodies LLP Solicitors)
  • Margaret Khnichich (Ernst & Young, CA Glasgow)
  • Susie Swift CA, (Saffrey Champness, CA, Inverness)
  • Ian Clark (Turcan Connell, Solicitors)
  • Robert Scott-Dempster (Gillespie Macandrew LLP) Solicitors, and Chair of the Legal and Taxation Committee)

Of particular interest to Scottish Land & Estates members is the  Scotland Bill, currenlty being consider by the UK Government.
