2012 General Licences

Please note that the new licences which come in effect from 1 January 2012, will be available on the SNH website from next week.

SNH intends to update the current General Licences for 2012 with only minor changes, and proposes to retain the current wording over permitted traps in General Licences 1 to 4. SNH has stated that is evident that there are a range of potential ambiguities or deficiencies within the current General Licences that it would be desirable to see addressed, particularly in reference to trapping methods. SNH recognises that it is not in position to secure this clarity in time for the 1st January when the new licences need to be in place, but intends to gather together representatives of key stakeholder groups early in 2012 to take this work forward.
