The former Assistant Private Secretary to the Cabinet Secretary for Environment & Climate Change has been appointed Policy Officer Scotland with the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT).
Gemma Davis will be based at the Trust’s Scottish Headquarters near Perth. Her key responsibilities will becommunicating GWCT research to policy-makers and organising and implementing visits and demonstrations of best practice game and wildlife conservation based on research.
A geography graduate of Edinburgh University, Gemma will also liaise closely with the GWCT’s six Scottish voluntary regional groups and support their fundraising activities.
Having taken up the position at the end of November, Gemma is excited to be working for such a unique research-based charity.
“It’s great to be part of such a forward-thinking organisation and I’m very much looking forward to progressing our policy agenda in Scotland,” said Gemma.
“Scotland has an enviable resource in its game and wildlife and this post gives me an excellent opportunity to help shape its management through sensible and sensitive policy.”
Leaving the offices of Richard Lochhead at Edinburgh, Gemma has re-located to Angus and is now residing near Kirriemuir. A keen sportswoman Gemma also takes an active interest in the local shooting scene as well as honing her cookery skills in her spare time.
