Scottish Land & Estates Encouraged by NFUS Stance on ARTB

Following a statement* by NFU Scotland on future policy measures to support the tenanted farming sector in Scotland including a clear message that the forthcoming Agricultural Holdings Bill should not be used as a vehicle to deliver absolute right to buy, Scottish Land & Estates Chief Executive Douglas McAdam, said:

“This unequivocal statement from NFUS that the absolute right to buy is not in the future interests of promoting a healthy and viable tenanted farm sector in Scotland comes at a very opportune moment. Scottish Land & Estates agrees that to encourage such a move would be counterproductive to the sector in Scotland and endorses wholeheartedly the NFUS position on this. We will continue to work with colleagues at the Tenant Farming Forum to ensure a vibrant and prosperous tenanted sector, which is essential to agriculture in Scotland."
