Have you carried out a farm structure health check?

 
With slurry applications and silage making just around the corner, making sure that the structures on your farm are well maintained can save you time and money as well as reducing the risk of pollution from your farm. 
 
Manufacturers of slurry stores recommend maintenance schedules for equipment that they supply. 
 
Now is the time to check that sluice valves, pumps, high level alarms and float switches are in good working order 
Ensure that effluent channels and chambers are kept clear and in good structural condition
Visually assess walls & floors of structures, where possible, to identify any damage. Does any sealant need to be replaced? 
 
NOTE : If major repairs are required for a farm structure; check with SEPA about what you will need to provide to confirm that work has been done in accordance with current regulations.
