Ministerial Statement of 100% Broadband

On Tuesday, Fergus Ewing reiterated the Scottish Government’s commitment for every premises to be able to access superfast broadband by 2021. This statement was linked to the draft budget announcement. The first phase will be aimed at the most rural areas where commercial rollout will not reach. Fibre will be the primary delivery measure but it is recognised that other technologies such as 4G, satellite and TV White Space will also be required to reach the 100% target. Procurement for delivery of the programme will take place over 2019.
