Planning Bill published

New legislation intended to simplify and improve the planning system has been set out by Local Government Minister Kevin Stewart. The Planning (Scotland) Bill builds on recommendations of an independent review carried out by a panel of experts last year.

Although yet to be announced the lead committee for scrutinising the Bill will likely be the Local Government Committee. Key elements of the Bill include an infrastructure levy, local place plans and the removal of the requirement to prepare strategic development plans. The Bill as introduced can be found here.
