Galloway National Park Meeting

In the light of growing interest in the prospect of a Galloway National Park, the Southern Uplands Partnership organised an event to discuss the potential implications for the region. The invited audience heard from Tony Gates, CEO of the Northumberland National Park Authority and from John Riddle, ex Chair of the NNPA Board and a farmer in the Park.

The evening provoked some good discussions on the opportunities and challenges a National Park could bring to Galloway.

The Galloway National Park Association are in the process of composing a options paper which will suggest several models for a National Park in the area. This paper is expected to be released in mid-July and will be circulated for consultation on.

Scottish Land & Estates plans to hold a meeting with members later this summer to discuss the proposal for National Park in Galloway and the options contained within the paper.
