New guide for community facilities

A new guide on acquiring and redeveloping community facilities has been published online. Geoff Fagan, from the charity Cadispa, and Derennan Watson, formerly of Landwise Scotland, have co-authored the guide to help management committees with upgrading and redeveloping community buildings in rural Scotland.

The guide is designed to help local people assess the risks of ownership of community facilities and to help the path to ownership to be as smooth as possible. It includes information on strengthening your management committee, consulting with the local community, getting planning permission and a building warrant and much more.

Community volunteers on committees are also invited to send their suggestions for improvement to the guide to Dernnan Watson at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . The guide will be reviewed in light of these contributions.
