Monitor Estate Project – are you interested?

The Scottish Enterprise Rural Team is keen to gauge the level of interest in establishing a “Monitor Estate Project” using the agriculture monitor farm model.  This model has been used successfully in the farming and agritourism sectors, and Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Land & Estates want to hear from you if you would be interested in a new project that focused on estates.

The idea would be to bring together rural estates and use the monitor estate model to create a common meeting place to hear about and discuss issues affecting profitability, customer base and sustainability. The key difference which an estates-based approach would provide is the focus on the integrated and inclusive nature of estate management which looks at the land and other assets within the estate, including farming, forestry, let housing, sporting, energy and tourism.

This would be a 3 year project and Scottish Enterprise would fund the services of a facilitator over this period of time.  The monitor estate would be selected through an application process from anywhere within the Scottish Enterprise geographical area of Scotland.  The monitor estate would determine the agenda for each meeting every six weeks, which would be attended by other interested estates.
