Review of the CNPA Forest and Woodland Strategy

At a meeting in Boat of Garten on 15 March a wide range of stakeholders attended the launch of the above review. Scottish Land & Estates members from across the Park attended and participated in the event which was punctuated by several presentations and Q&A sessions from the Park,  Forestry Commission and Confor. There were a number of concerns raised during discussion about support mechanisms, the level of new planting required, the issue of Deer Management and Woodland creation, and how neighbouring Woodland plans will integrate. There was a clear call for private sector partners to help deliver a new strategy but some concern that the speed of land use change may undermine the planning process.
