Welcome Response to Fuel Poverty Reports

The Scottish Government has responded to the Scottish Fuel Poverty Strategic Working Group Report and the Rural Fuel Poverty Task Force Report which were published in October. Cabinet Secretary Angela Constance has announced a pilot Home Care scheme which will see Homes Energy Scotland advisors visit 220 rural homes in two locations in order to support the reduction of fuel bills. The £300,000 one year pilot will be evaluated in 2018 and a decision taken whether it should be rolled out nationally.

Ms Constance also announced an independent review of the definition of fuel poverty by four academics.
