A bright future for Peatland Restoration

The National Peatland Action Plan Delivery Group met yesterday.  The Group, which includes organisations representing Government, ourselves representing land ownership and rural business, and environmental NGOs, agreed a range of activity and actions for 2017 aimed at meeting this year’s target of restoration of around 10,000 hectares of peatland. 

 

The Group noted that we were in a rare situation in Scotland in terms of restoration effort in as much as we have an action plan, funding and a great deal of consensus and will to ensure targets are met.  Scottish Land & Estates are running the first of a series of practical restoration events later in the month with Malcolm Hay of Edinglassie Estate.  Details here...
