ECCLR Committee - Deer Evidence Session

Earlier this week, Scottish Land & Estates joined ADMG and others to give evidence to the Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform Committee on the recently published report by SNH, reviewing deer management in Scotland.

During the evidence session, we reinforced our frustrations and limited confidence in the conclusions on deer numbers and densities in the report.  Deer numbers have been the focus of the SNH report rather than the impact of deer grazing, in addition the report also fails to differentiate grazing impacts from other herbivores such as sheep and hares.
