Further to the update issued on 18 November the following information provides an update on the Beef Efficiency Scheme (BES) and the issuing of tissue tags.
The genotyping selection has been made and animals selected for tagging are now available on the BES pages of customers’ ScotEID account. Tissue tags will be issued directly from Neogen, the laboratory that will be processing the tissue samples, and it will also include an instruction leaflet for the use of the tags and a short reply form for return with the samples. All customers will receive their tags by the end of 2016.
The return period for tags has been extended to 30 June 2017 for this livestock selection, which allows customers more flexibility in carrying out tissue tagging at a time which suits their business and removes the need for additional handling.
An email has been issued today to the majority of scheme applicants, and a letter has been sent to those without email access.
Advice has been published on www.ruralpayments.org
Customers requiring any further advice should contact the Entitlements and Payments Information Helpline on 0300 300 2222.
A helpline has been set up to assist applicants with using the tissue tags and returning their samples and which is staffed by the tag manufacturer, Allflex.
Customers with any problems with the using the tissue tags they should call 01207 523140 and select option 1 for the Beef Efficiency Scheme.
