Mental ill health in rural Scotland

Scottish Land & Estates attended a seminar for the publication of a report by SRUC called, Challenges for those with mental ill health in rural Scotland. The document was published for Support in Mind Scotland, a charity for people affected by mental illness. Key findings include, depression is the most prevalent of the metal problems surveyed for both men and women in rural areas.

Almost 40% of those admitting to depression were in the 0-24 age-group. Mental ill health was also more common in people who were unable to work. Scottish Land & Estates will continue to work with those involved in the seminar to highlight the mental ill health issues focused on in the report.
