SGRPID remind farmers they MUST return loan offers

SGRPID is to set a closing date of 14 December for the this year’s loan scheme to farmers awaiting basic payment scheme funds.  Unlike last year, farmers must return the offer in order to receive the interest-free loan.

The Rural Payments and Inspections Department are this week urging farmers to make sure they return their acceptance of offer by 14 December in order to receive the funds.  Anyone not returning the offer before the closing date will not receive the loan and will then have to wait for their delayed scheme payment to be paid.  This is different to the situation last year, whereby payment was made without the need to formally accept the offer.  The department is still waiting for around 5,000 offers to be returned.
