Scottish Tree of the Year Awards 20

The winner of the 2016 Tree of the Year award was announced at a ceremony held in Scottish Parliament earlier this week. Scottish Land & Estates joined the organisers Woodland Trust Scotland and John Finnie MSP at the prize giving reception.

A total of six trees were selected from nominations by individuals, community groups and history societies across Scotland. Organised by the Woodland Trust Scotland, the winner received a “Tree LC” care grant of £1,000 with runner up trees receiving a grant for £500.

However the winner of the 2016 award is being kept a strict secret until later next month, when they will be formally announced in a specialised TV programme.
