Earlier this week, Scottish Land & Estates’ Board Member and TFF rep Andrew Howard and senior staff met with Rob Gibson, Convenor of the Scottish Parliament’s Rural Affairs, Climate Change and Environment Committee to exchange views on Right to Buy and the impact on the let land sector of the reopening of the debate. During the meeting there was also a discussion on the wide ranging issues which lie within the remit of the Committee, which has a very busy few years ahead of it, as well as an update on some of the other areas that Scottish Land & Estates and its members are currently involved in.

After the meeting Sarah-Jane Laing, Head of Policy, said “It will come to no surprise that there are some differences of opinion between ourselves and Mr Gibson but we look forward to continuing our discussions in relation to what is needed for a vibrant agricultural sector. We were also grateful that we had an opportunity to discuss other areas of work such as rural heritage tourism, CAP reform and affordable housing.”
