Professor Powell’s recent post as Chief Science Officer at CGIAR Consortium, an international partnership organisation which focuses on agricultural research for development in areas such as cereals, agroforestry, livestock and climate change, gives him the ideal background to drive this ambition forward. He talked about the global challenges of food distribution and choice, not least of which is over-consumption leading to obesity, food waste and lack of adequate nourishment in countries suffering civil unrest.
