The most recent CAP Stakeholders' Meeting was held in Edinburgh on Wednesday of this week. The meeting considered the implications for rural support of the Brexit decision, provided updates on progress with delayed payments and the Scottish Government’s IT system.
There was also helpful consideration of the Vision for Agriculture discussion document that officials aim to develop further in coming months. It is clear that there is appetite for the Vision to take a very broad look at agriculture and include environmental issues as well as the food and drink supply chain. There is synergy there with our recently published call for a UK Food, Farming and Environment Policy. The next meeting of the group will take place on 25 August with the new Cabinet Secretary, Fergus Ewing MSP.
