SRUC and UHI complete deer management workshop series

As part of a commissioned piece of work into future research requirements for the sustainable management of wild deer, SRUC and UHI has been undertaking a series of workshops with practitioners, communities, researchers and policy makers across Scotland.  The final one this week took place in Edinburgh.

Scottish Land & Estates has had a strong input to these workshops with members and staff attending each of them.  This week’s final workshop for policy-makers and researchers was a synthesis of the regional meetings and was aimed at clearly identifying gaps in research and knowledge transfer/communications.  The discussion was of a high quality and got beneath the surface layers of deer management issues and conflicts which was very helpful.  The outcomes of this work will go back to Scottish Government.
