Forum for the Future of Agriculture

Despite other sad events in Brussels on Tuesday of this week, the Forum for the Future of Agriculture went ahead in the city.  Our Policy Officer, Anne Gray, attended the high level discussions about how agriculture can move to a position of sustainability.  Some major topics were explored, including population growth, food production, distribution and choice.  It was clear from the discussions that “business as usual” is no longer an option for farming and some major changes will occur in the sector.  Within Europe this is likely to be seen in the next round of the CAP (post 2020).  The need for proper alignment of all land use policies was highlighted as a necessary action, as was reductions in food waste, tackling over-consumption and the role of precision agriculture.  To find out more see – www.forumforagriculture.com
