Natural Flood Management Workshop

Natural Flood Management Workshop

Scottish Land & Estates yesterday attended a James Hutton Inst. Workshop on natural flood management.  The thought provoking day considered the barriers to implementing natural solutions to help alleviate flooding such as peatland restoration, grip blocking in the uplands, tree planting and flood plain restoration.  Co-ordination, advice and funding were highlighted as three key issues.  Raising land use issues such as these up the political agenda seems imperative if progress is to be made.  If you are interested in natural flood management approaches, speak to our Policy Officer, Anne Gray at HQ.  t. 0131 653 5400 or e.
