Scottish Land & Estates, which represents over 2500 landowners in Scotland, today reinforced its members’ commitment to a vibrant tenant farming sector in Scotland, in line with emphasis of similar support in the Scottish government’s new legislative programme.

Chief Executive Douglas McAdam commented:

“We share the government’s vision for land being used ‘as productively as possible’ and our members are wholly committed to making that happen, through tenancies and other key farming business operations.

“We were delighted to see the NFUS pledge its commitment to supporting farm tenancies last week and would reaffirm that progress in this area can be made by working together through the Tenant Farming Forum, whose recent recommendations for legislative change we support.  Our members want to help find solutions to assist those wishing to get into the agricultural sector and also those considering retirement.”
