On Friday 6th November 2015 Keith Brown MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure, Investment and Cities presented Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping with an award as Scottish Borders Tourism Business of the Year 2015, at the Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards at Springwood Park, Kelso
This award is made for all round excellence of product together with the overall contribution made to the quality of the Borders tourism experience.
Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping, just outside Denholm in the Scottish Borders, is one of Scotland’s best tents-only campsites, and the only one of its kind in the Scottish Borders.
Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping drew over 3,500 new visitors to the Borders in the 2015 season to its Edwardian Walled Garden, its wild Woodland Pitches and its beautifully sited glamping Safari Tents on the slopes of Ruberslaw.
These 3,500 visitors would not have come to the Borders before Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping opened in 2012 – prior to that they had nowhere to stay in the Borders except caravan parks, which have a very different culture and target market.
Alan Bailey, Director of Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping, said:
“With 3500 visitors this season, and turnover up 50% on last year, we are living proof that our beautiful, unspoilt Borders landscapes have great economic value to local businesses.
Being in the Heart of the Teviot Valleys Special Landscape Area has helped our business enormously, and we fully support the proposals for a Borders National Park.
We are delighted to receive this award – together with our 4 stars from VisitScotland and our TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence this award has made 2015 very special. We are very grateful to all staff and suppliers for helping us achieve these high standards”
