Forestry Option Guidance Updates

Over the last couple of months, FCS has made several updates to the Option Guidance – in some cases this has been to update guidance with new information, for example, how FCS will assess applications through scoring and FCS have also made changes to clarify guidance as a result of queries from staff and customers. Please note in particular:

Woodland creation – information added to all options about how FCS will score applications and minor changes to the species composition tables.

  • Woodland Improvement Grant and Sustainable Management of Forests – all options have been updated with scoring details.
  • Woodland Improvement Grant - Restructuring Regeneration - clarification on open ground, the use of vegetatively propagated Sitka spruce and the specification of stocking densities.
  • Full Scheme Guidance – this is a new section that will appear shortly on the Forestry Grant Scheme web page to replace the ‘applications’ section and where you will find information on a variety of topics such as inspections, open ground, clearing and scoring (including budget availability and threshold scores).
