EU Referendum Bill

The EU Referendum Bill
has been published by the UK Government, which makes provision for a referendum on the UK’s membership of the EU to take place before 31 December 2017

Although the date of the poll is still not known, during Committee stage of the Bill on Tuesday 16 June, the Government tabled an amendment to the Bill which provides that the referendum cannot be held on 5 May 2016, meaning it will not be combined with the other polls scheduled to take place on that date – including the Scottish Parliament elections.
