GWCT & SASA are working with trappers to collect information on corvid traps used under the General Licences. Using your experience and knowledge as practitioners, they are gathering information that will improve the understanding of this legitimate practice.
To date, the response from trappers has been tremendous, with well over 200 participants providing information on over 700 traps. However, to help balance numbers of participants across different key regions, we would like more trappers to help in the Dundee, Angus, Fife and Borders areas.
They appreciate it’s a little late in the year for some trappers, but information gathered from the questionnaire survey undertaken by GWCT last year, suggests that some of you continue to use your traps year round.
All that is required of you is to keep records on how you use one (or more if you wish) of your traps (Larsen Traps, Larsen Mates and Multi-Catch Crow Cages). Most trappers prefer to use our specially designed booklets, which require very little time and effort to complete.
The booklet will be sent to you with a stamped addressed envelope, so it’s cost-free and simple to return. Alternatively, you could use a spreadsheet held on your computer or the GWCT mobile app.
