Moorland Group Chairman sends letter to Minister for Environment and Climate Change

Lord Hopetoun, as Chairman of the Scottish Land & Estates Moorland Group, wrote on 5th August to Stewart Stevenson MSP, (Minister for the Environment and Climate Change), also copied to Fergus Ewing MSP, (Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism). The letter set out the benefits of grouse management to Scotlands’s economy and environment and explained how political pressure and public perceptions are putting those benefits at risk. It explained the question mark now hovering over many decisions about future investment in Scottish grouse moors (compared to the North of England) and spelt out the potential loss to Scotland if that investment dries up. The final request was for an expression of Government support for the industry as the shooting season gets under way.
