Lettingweb published interim results in December from its recent survey of tenants which has been described as a ‘myth buster report’ which ‘destroys many preconceptions of the sector’.
The report shows almost 95% of surveyed tenants have never been asked to leave a property for an unexplained or unreasonable reason. Over 90% believe their rent review frequency to be reasonable with 86% saying they have never had a rent review in their current property. Over 35% surveyed tenants have been in their homes for over a year and around 10% have been in occupation for over three years.
It is worth noting that the majority of respondents were young people (30.1%) in flats (71.5%) with over 20% being students which suggests the rural PRS is not well represented. We expect that the rural PRS would show much longer occupation of rented properties.
