Scottish Beaver Trial final report published

A report on findings from the official Beaver Reintroduction Trial at Knapdale has been published today.  The report covers the extent to which the beaver have altered their surroundings in the Knapdale Forest and comments on the modest economic benefits they have brought to the area through increased tourism.  It can be found at – http://blog.scottishbeavers.org.uk/2014/12/partners-publish-final-scottish-beaver-trial-report/

Scottish Land & Estates is currently developing a position statement with regard to the proposed full reintroduction of beaver to Scotland.  It is fair to say we have considerable concerns about the proposal, largely based on the experience of farming members dealing with the escapee/illegally released Tayside population.
