DSCI Deer Stalking Certificate

DSC1 Deer Stalking Certificate – a unique chance to get this important qualification quickly and easily at HALF the normal price!
The Cairngorms National Park Authority,(CNPA) is keen to encourage the best possible standards for anyone involved in deer management in the National Park, and DSC1 is foundation level training suitable for a wide range of experience and ability. In response to feedback, rather than a traditional course, they are trialling self-training followed by a one day assessment by a Deer Management Qualifications (DMQ) Approved assessor, as a less costly alternative which doesn’t require 2-3 days away from regular work commitments.
CNPA is offering DSC1 to candidates working in the Cairngorms National Park area at half the usual cost. They will supply the British Deer Society’s Ultimate Deer Data self-teaching DVD to trainees. The Cairngorms National Park Authority will expect you to put in the effort needed to study the content to a point where you are ready to take the assessment; this is done in your own time and at your own pace, and generally takes 3 – 6 weeks to do in your spare time.
There is a choice of two dates and locations for the Assessment days ie
Sunday 16th November, Aberlour. Assessor – The Stalking School.
Wednesday 26th November, Dalmunzie Estate (near Spittal of Glenshee). Assessor – British Deer Society.
There is also the option to attend a one day revision session run by the Stalking School at Aberlour on Saturday 15th November, which includes theory and shooting practice.
If necessary, guns can be borrowed free of charge for both assessment days.
The cost to you will be between £85 and £100, plus an additional £32.50 for the optional revision day if required. The exact cost will be confirmed once final numbers are known, and we will invoice you, and expect payment, before the DVDs are issued. A small charge may be made for extra rounds of ammunition on the assessment day. CNPA will reimburse reasonable travel expenses at 50%.
Places are limited, so please let me Penny Lawson know ASAP which date/location you would like to book and whether you require the revision day.
