14th August 2014: Roxburghe Estates is letting two farms in the Borders on long-term tenancies.
Cocklawfoot Farm and Swindon Farm, between Kelso and Yetholm in the Cheviot Hills , are both being let on 15-year minimum Limited Duration Tenancies.
Cocklawfoot is a well-equipped hill farm of 1917 acres with an attractive farmhouse and steading. Current stock includes 1160 breeding ewes plus 260 hoggs. The farm can be rented on its own or in conjunction with Swindon Farm.
Swindon Farm is a 739-acre hill farm and current stock comprises 588 breeding ewes and 188 hoggs. It has a useful range of buildings and a cottage can be provided if required. The sheep stock have the benefit of being hefted and would therefore require to be taken over at the entry date.
Roddy Jackson, Factor of Roxburghe Estates, said: “These farms are both very productive hill farms and, as an estate committed to supporting the tenant farming industry in Scotland, we are pleased to offer the units on long term tenancies.”
A viewing date has been set for August 20th for both farms with registration at Cocklawfoot Farm. The closing date for tenders is September 17th and date of entry to the farms is expected to be in November this year. Further particulars are available from Roxburghe Estates Office (01573 223333).
