The Assembly Rooms on Edinburgh’s George Street played host to the Scottish Land & Estates Spring Conference on Wednesday, with the event fully booked out and proving highly successful. The keynote address was given by Cabinet Secretary for Finance, John Swinney, who referred to the economic contribution study in his speech commenting that “The Scottish Government acknowledged, appreciates and values the contributions highlighted in the report.”

Attracted by the packed agenda, Members and guests attending our Spring Conference were guided through the results of the economic contribution study before the Cabinet Secretary for Finance, John Swinney, made the keynote speech. Within his address, he commented that “The Scottish Government acknowledged, appreciates and values the contributions highlighted in the [economic contribution] report.”

The audience then heard about key economic, environmental and social findings from the joint project between the Cairngorm National Park and Scottish Land & Estates.

In between sessions, attendees were able to speak to a full range of member exhibitors involved in rural sector enterprises and advisory services.

The afternoon sessions focused on case studies and perspectives across Energy & Renewables, Food & Drink, Leisure & Tourism and Emerging Markets. Mixing practical observation, advice and no little humour, the speakers gave the assembled audience valuable insights and considerable inspiration to make best use of land-based assets.

Scottish Land & Estates is particularly grateful to our Conference sponsors, Barclays, CKD Galbraith and Brodies for making the event such a success.
