ADMG launches consultation at AGM

The Association of Deer Management Groups (ADMG) at its Annual General Meeting in Kingussie, yesterday, launched a consultation on their Draft Deer Management Group Benchmark. The consultation runs until 18 April 2014 and ADMG aim to have the final document ready for the annual Scone Game Fair which begins on  4th July 2014. The Benchmark will provide a set of 14 guiding principles, including adherence to the Code of Practice on Deer management, Habitat monitoring and agreed Annual Deer Culls, aimed at supporting the operation of modern voluntary Deer Management Groups across Scotland.

CEO Douglas McAdam, who is also a member of the ADMG Executive Committee, said: "This is an important consultation by ADMG following on as it does from the Rural Affairs, Climate Change & Environment Committee examination of deer management across Scotland. Our industry has to demonstrate clearly that the voluntary approach to deer management is the right one and that it delivers. I would urge all members with deer management interests to engage fully with their Deer Management Group and support the existing system we have."
