Scottish Beef Scheme deadline approaches

Scottish Government has been in touch to remind all members that the 2013 Scottish Beef Scheme (SBS) closes for applications on 31 December 2013.

SBS claims can be submitted electronically using the Scottish Government’s Rural Payments Online (RPO) system which offers 24 hour access and gives you an instant receipt. RPO also allows Farm Management software packs to upload the eartags of eligible animals and lets you see a history of previous claims. Alternatively you can complete a paper claim and send it to your local area office before 31 December 2013.
Whether you choose to claim online or by paper, it is important to check that the animals you claim have not been claimed previously. If you have submitted claims previously under the Scottish Beef Calf Scheme and Scottish Beef Scheme, you will have received an acknowledgement letter containing a list of the eartags claimed. These can be referred to in order to minimise the risk of submitting a duplicate claim which may lead to a reduction in your payment.
