Improving the coal industry

Scottish Energy Minister Fergus Ewing, has announced that the Scottish Government is to consult on more effective regulation for the coal industry.

The Energy Ministerhas also written to UK Energy Minister, Michael Fallon to ask that monies collected from Scottish Coal producers over the years by the UK Coal Authority through a levy per tonne be made available to restore the open cast sites across Scotland.

Members who have any queries on open cast sites or land affected should contact the liquidators, KPMG in the first instance.
