The Scottish Government is seeking views on the principles behind the next SRDP.
The programme distributes money from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Scottish Government to be spent on things like the environment, modernisation of agriculture, forestry, business development, rural tourism and support for community groups and support for those living and working in fragile remote areas.
The current SRDP measures are nearing their end with the structure of the new programme still to be agreed. This consultation is intended to help Scottish Government shape the priorities for the next programme and the structure through which it will be delivered.
The consultation has been supported by a series of 14 road shows – chaired by senior Scottish Government officials - that have sought to give people a chance to find out more before having their say. A podcast is available for those unable to attend a roadshows here: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/farmingrural/SRDP/SRDP20142012
A further, more detailed, consultation will be held later in the year.
