Scottish Thistle Tourism Awards 2013 - entries now open

Created by VisitScotland in 1992, the Scottish Thistle Awards recognise and celebrate excellence and innovation in Scottish tourism.  VisitScotland encourages all tourism businesses to join in this celebration and consider entering for the chance to win a Scottish Thistle Award.  A full list of the award categories can be viewed on our dedicated Scottish Thistle Award site

Entry to the awards is FREE for all eligible businesses.

The Scottish Thistle Awards are based on regional champions from four areas around Scotland:

  • Highlands and Islands
  • North East
  • South Central East
  • South Central West

Scottish Thistle Awards 2013 - entries now open

 The Scottish Thistle Awards return for their 21styear and VisitScotland is calling on businesses from across Scotland to enter.

The Scottish Thistle Awards are open for entries from the16 January. Twelve categories from 2012 will return with two new additional categories:

  • Partnership in Tourism Award and
  • Best Tour Operator Programme of the Year Award.

The award previously called 'Scottish Natural Heritage - Best Nature Based Experience Award' has been changed to '‘Year of Natural Scotland - Best Nature Based Experience Award’.

This is in recognition of Year of Natural Scotland 2013 and is aimed at those groups that celebrate Scotland’s nature by opening up the experience of wildlife and landscapes to our visitors.

Entry process

 Businesses should enter the region in which their business or activity take place.

Those regions are North East and Tayside, Central South East, Central South West and the Highlands and Islands.

As in 2012, the Scottish Thistle Awards will partner with the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards in the Highlands region.

Winners of the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards will then represent their regional at the national Scottish Thistle Awards ceremony in November 2013.
