The second annual Scottish Empty Homes Conference took place this week in Glasgow. As part of her key note speech, Minister for Housing and Welfare, Margaret Burgess, confirmed an extension to funding for the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership of which Scottish Land & Estates is a key member.
The Partnership will receive an additional £55,000 to help local authorities work with home owners to bring their homes back into use.
Mrs Burgess said:
“Empty homes are a scar on the landscape in many cities and towns across Scotland.
“I am please to announce today that Scottish Government funding for the Empty Homes Partnership will continue for another year, until the end of March 2014. And, given the good progress so far, we are also pleased to commit to allow a 1 year extension of the Homes Again project.
“There is still a lot of work to do across the country and clearly the work of the Empty Homes Partnership is central to keep up the momentum and develop new ways of working.”
